FC 24 Como 1907 career mode, chapter 1: The Beginning

Updated: Mar 31, 2024

By the crystal-clear waters of Lake Como, there are mansions owned by George Clooney, Madonna, and Ronaldinho. There are people sailing and surfing around the waters. There are beautiful trees and bushes all around the coast. This is a place that is beyond beautiful. This is Lake Como.

And on the southern side of Lake Como, there is a football stadium. The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, home of Como 1907. A football club in THIS location must be special. The club had been close to liquidation as close as 2016. The wife of Michael Essien, the Ghanaian former midfielder, saved them by purchasing Como in an auction. In 2019, Como's new owners became the Hartono brothers, who had a combined worth of $43.5 billion. Now THAT is a boost. Since then, former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise has been appointed as the club president, Thierry Henry as a shareholder, and Cesc Fabregas as a player, then manager, then assistant. Ahead of the 2023/24 season, the club hired a legendary manager. Como 1907's greatest ever recruit.

Mac Hagen.

Now, if anyone is wondering, Mac Hagen is my former English teacher. He is one of the best teachers I have ever met. I enjoyed every class with him, and he is the funniest person in the world. That's why I made his face like that. You probably expected the manager to be an Italian legend like Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Baggio, etc. nope, it is always going to be Mac Hagen. In his first press conference, Hagen said: "It is really exciting to manage such a beautiful and special football club. I want to bring Como to the world and the world to Como. siuuuuu" This is the beginning of something truly special. The FC 24 Como 1907 Career Mode.

The Starting Squad

When Mac Hagen first took over, he spotted some familiar faces in the squad. He gazed around the new group of players he's going to work with. This is a balanced and competent team. And I am sure that some of these players are going to be in that final legendary Champions League winning team. Here is the full starting squad of the Como 1907 career mode.

1. Adrian Šemper (GK)

2. Edoardo Goldaniga (CB)

3. Marco Sala (LB)

4. Matteo Sioloni (CB)

5. Marco Curto (CB)

6. Alessio Iovine (RM)

84. Tommasso Cassandro (RB)

90. Simone Verdi (CAM)

93. Federico Barba (CB)

94. Ben Kone (CM)

99. Tomasso Fumagalli (ST)

If you are a super football fan like me, you might recognize maybe one or two faces. Patrick Cutrone, the former Milan and FIFA 20 wonderkid comes to mind. Some of the other players I know are Goldaniga, Baselli, Strefezza, Ioannou, Verdi, and Nsame. A brilliant starting team for a second-division club.

The Tactics: 4-2-2-2 Tiki-Taka

A beautiful football club has to play beautiful football. Tiki-Take is the definition of footballing beauty. And the 4-2-2-2 is a beauty in itself. A solid four-man, defensive line, two defensive midfielders, and two creative attacking midfielders feeding two strikers. This is the perfect tiki-taka formation.

Hagen's first match in charge: Como vs Granada

Mac Hagen's playstyle as Como manager is to play the beautiful style of free-flowing, tiki-take football. Como is facing newly promoted La Liga side Granada in their exhibition tournament. And Hagen's lads resembled the beauty of the city appropriately on the pitch. Satisfying one-touch passing, great attacking passes, Como had completely outplayed Granada. In the 16th minute, Gabriel Strefezza, on loan from Lecce, scored the first goal of the Como 1907 career mode with a powerful shot towards the left corner.

Strefezza is bundled by Patrick Cutrone after scoring.

We then scored again through Patrick Cutrone, who blasted a shot into the top of the goal and past the fingertips of Raul Fernandez. In the 37th minute, Cameroonian striker Jean-Pierre Nsame did something sensational; heading a looping ball in the air, Nsame placed a beautiful dipping header into the right corner that left Granada keeper Raul Fernandez with no chance.

In the second half, Como continued to play their beautiful football. Early into the half, after a cutback by Curto, Gabriel Strefezza took a touch and volleyed the ball into the bottom corner for 4-0.

Gabriel Strefezza lashes the ball into the bottom corner.

Como then controlled the ball and played many short passes, while Granada had more chances late on. However, they just couldn't score. In the last minute, Lucas Da Cunha ran himself and belted the ball into the goal for 5-0. 5-0.

Lucas Da Cunha unleashes an absolute belter. Raul Fernandez's had a stinker.

Wow, how about that for a first match? Como has beaten a La Liga side Granada in Mac Hagen's first match. How this team creates chances and finishes them off, along with the beautiful tiki taka, the future under Hagen is so exciting.

New Signings

Hartono said that Como's plan was to build a functional team, not to make crazy investments like Monza. He also said that Como wants to arrive to Serie A in a position to stick around, not to drop straight back down. Mac Hagen signed three players that would do just that.

After that first match, it is evident that the backline needs a dominant figure in the air after not winning headers off corner kicks. I have found the perfect player for Como- he is an absolute monster and Football Manager maniac. Welcome to Como, Luca Caldirola!

We also signed an experienced central defensive midfielder who spent most of his career in Italy and is a 55-time Croatia international. Welcome to Como, Milan Badelj!

And the final signing is a right-back who also played at the Serie A before, and is a current Denmark international with 54 caps. Welcome to Como, Jens Stryger Larsen!

With the signings of Caldirola, Badelj, and Stryger Larsen, Como has been once again strengthened. However, you are all board members, so you can vote on one more deadline signing for Como below:
