FC 24 Como 1907 RTG Career Mode Episode 2: We have our very own Romelu Lukaku

Jean-Pierre Nsame reacts after delivering one of the worst misses of all time. My reaction:

The waters at Lake Como continues to flow. Como 1907 is slowly blending with their manager. Mac Hagen will be in the dugout for the first time in a competitive football match.

Como is about to face Ascoli for their first match of the season in the Serie B.

The mood in the club is fresh. New faces, new gaffer. This is the beginning of the Como 1907 career mode. Como visits Ascoli for their season opener, in front of the sold-out away fans. And the match, and the new dynasty, is underway.

Como threatened many times at the beginning of the match, but efforts from Lucas Da Cunha and Patrick Cutrone were denied by opposition number 2 goalkeeper, Emiliano Viviano. Yes, he actually wears number 2 as a goalkeeper. Viviano seemed like an impassible wall. However, in the 35th minute, the breakthrough came. The captain, Gabriel Strefezza, shot straight at Viviano, but he was there to slot the ball in for the rebound. 1-0 for Como 1907. 1-0 for all of Como.

Gabriel Strefezza scores the first competitive goal of the career mode after slotting the ball into an empty net. Goal for all of Como.

The fans are ecstatic, seeing their skipper find the back of the net. As the referee blows the half time whistle, optimism is in the waters of Lake Como.

The second half kicked off, and Como continued to threaten Ascoli's goal. Multiple opportunities were either denied by Viviano, wasted, or being one of the greatest FIFA video game

misses of all time. Our own Romelu Lukaku, Jean-Pierre Nsame, delivered. A cross comes in from Lucas Da Cunha, flies past Viviano, and Nsame only had to head the ball in from two yards out.

WIDE.

How did he miss that.

Not even Lukaku could miss a goal like that. I didn't even try to aim that, because the shot was so easy. Fix your game EA. You're lucky I wasn't angry about it. But just look at this. From two yards out, Nsame seemed to deliberately head the ball wide of the goal. Just imagine the fury of Hagen.

Fortunately, the team seemed to have settled down after that epic miss. In the 82nd minute, when Gabriel Strefezza burst into the box and sliced the ball across towards Patrick Cutrone, who opens his account for 2-0. This is the first goal for Cutrone, a former FIFA wonderkid and a future Como 1907 career mode legend. The fans at the away end can celebrate their victory.

Patrick Cutrone slots the ball in past Emiliano Viviano. We are going to see that for many, many more years to come.

There was still time for one late twist, when Ilija Nestorovski volleyed the ball home for a consolation goal in stoppage time, but it won't matter. Como had won their first match of the season, 2-1.

Ilija Nestorovski volleys the ball home for 1-2, but it won't matter as there is no time left for Ascoli. Como had won, 2-1.

The atmosphere of the club is amped up by that victory. Several Italian newspapers has described Como's play as 'e un piacere guardarla' which means 'a joy to watch, except for the Nsame miss'. Well, that last part isn't true. But the team's performance, particularly Strefea's had made it a great way to start the season, and Hagen will hope that this is how they will continue.

On August 31st, Como has announced the signing of a beast of a central defensive midfielder. This guy will become a midfield stalwart for years to come. And most importantly, he was signed on a free. Welcome to Como 1907, Marko Stamenić!

In the next episode, you can marvel at the clownshows of the FC 24 goalkeepers who are worse than me in Como vs Bari. And that was before this team gave me excruciating pain on two huge matches. Stay tuned! (Sorry for the delay, I was busy in the last few weeks)
