It's that time of the year again. The draw that decides the season. The UEFA Champions League quarter-finals draw. And this year, there's some serious football heritage. Old-fashioned 2010s football combined with the modern oil era. Welcome to the 2023/24 Champions League quarter-finals. Below, you can marvel at my 0 ball knowledge predictions for these ties, as I got four out of eight last time. See, that's why I have 0 ball knowledge.
Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund
Ah yes, it's time for a surprise semifinalist. Two of the weakest sides on paper, but Atletico had proved that you don't need to look better on paper to win by beating last year's finalists Inter. Dortmund overcame a strong PSV side to reach this stage. I'd say that this tie would be close, with Atletico narrowly beating Dortmund.
First leg: Atletico Madrid 1-0 Borussia Dortmund (Griezmann 57)
Second leg: Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Atletico Madrid (Reus 66) (Morata 24)
Atletico Madrid win 2-1 on aggregate
PSG vs Barcelona
FINALLY. PSG are doing well in the Champions League, and if they beat Barcelona, a UCL final could be on the cards for Kylian Mbappe. This season is PSG's biggest opportunity to claim their European trophy, but you know how much competition is on the other side. Barcelona are not having their best season, but they can still offer a lot of competition. A narrow win for PSG I would say.
First Leg: PSG 1-1 Barcelona (Mbappe 59) (Yamal 83)
Second Leg: Barcelona 1-2 PSG (Christensen 28) (Mbappe 42, 55)
PSG win 3-2 on aggregate
Arsenal vs Bayern Munich
If you are an older football fan, you will remember that iconic 10-2. Arsene Wenger's side got humiliated by the Bavarian giants. But this Arsenal is something different. Saka. Odegaard. Saliba. In 2017, it was Walcott, Ramsey, and Shkodran Mustafi.I don't think they will be good enough to win, but they will definitely not be beaten 10-2 again. Bayern would win, but by a margin 1/4 of 2017.
First Leg: Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich (Trossard 12) (Kane 44)
Second Leg: Bayern Munich 2-0 Arsenal (Kane 25, Sane 83)
Bayern Munich win 3-1 on aggregate
Real Madrid vs Manchester City
The European Clasico. Two of the best teams in the world. Vini Jr, Bellingham vs Haaland, KDB. A mouth-watering tie that deserves to be the final. This has the makings to be one of the best UCL knockout round ties ever. You cannot predict who will win. But you can predict that the football these two teams play will be beautiful.
First Leg: Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester City (Vini Jr 35, Bellingham 74) (Alvarez 55)
Second Leg: Manchester City 3-1 aet Real Madrid (Haaland 9, Stones 83, Haaland 113) (Bellingham 51)
Manchester City win 4-3 on aggregate
