(UPDATE) My predictions for the Champions League round of 16

Image: Sofascore

The Champions League round of 16 draw was conducted this morning, so I will analyze the ties that were drawn and make a prediction for each of them, so here goes...

Porto v Arsenal

Arsenal will win this tie, their attacking firepower is one of the best in Europe. However Porto scored 15 goals in their group stage campaign, so I think they would score some goals too. I'd say 5-2 Arsenal over two legs.

UPDATE First Leg: Porto 1-0 Arsenal. Second leg needs 5-1 Arsenal. (bruh) For the second leg I would say Arsenal 2-1 Porto, and it goes to extra time and penalties. Because Arsenal have lost to Sporting in last year's Europa League before, they could lose again to Porto. Porto wins on penalties after 2-2 draw on aggregate.

Napoli v Barcelona

This is a huge, huge tie. The Diego Maradona derby. Barcelona versus Napoli. Barcelona could be given some really tough competition. This tie is almost unpredictable. I'd say 3-3 over two legs, then Barcelona win on penalties.

UPDATE First Leg: Napoli 1-1 Barcelona. Second leg needs 2-2 aet. I will actually keep this prediction.

PSG v Real Sociedad

PSG has been given an easier draw compared to the last few years, but Real Sociedad's high pressing means that they can draw out some mistakes from PSG's backline, especially from the error-prone Marquinhos. But PSG has Mbappe, Dembele, Muani, Ramos, Zaire-Emery, etc... I think PSG will win 4-2 over two legs.

UPDATE First Leg: PSG 2-0 Real Sociedad. Second leg needs 2-2. This seems a little unrealistic, 2-1 PSG maybe. PSG wins 4-1 on aggregate.

Inter v Atletico Madrid

This one is the most even tie on paper, but Atletico's playing style would probably mean that this tie won't be too entertaining. 2-1 for Inter over two legs.

UPDATE First Leg: Inter 1-0 Atletico Madrid. Second leg needs 1-1. Again, I will keep this prediction.

PSV v Borussia Dortmund

This tie would not look the best on paper, but I think this one would be really entertaining, given that both sides play free-flowing football. I would back PSV in this one, with a 5-4 victory over two legs and the winner a Luuk de Jong header.

UPDATE First Leg: PSV 1-1 Dortmund. Second leg needs 4-3 PSV. (bruh) I think PSV will still win, but 3-2 seems more likely than 4-3. PSV wins 4-3 on aggregate, Luuk de Jong still to score the winning goal.

Lazio v Bayern

These two sides have met before in 2021, with a score of 6-2. Bayern's attack is armed with the likes of Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala, and they will score some goals over the two legs. Lazio will offer some competition, but it won't be enough to beat Bayern. 5-1 over two legs for Bayern.

UPDATE First Leg: Lazio 1-0 Bayern. Second leg needs 5-0 Bayern. (bruh) I actually think Lazio can hold on. 1-1 for the second leg, Lazio wins 2-1 on aggregate.

Copenhagen v Man City

Man City always get easy draws, and of COURSE they draw Copenhagen. Copenhagen has beaten Man United, but I don't think their efforts would be enough to beat Man City. 4-1 over two legs for Man City.

UPDATE first leg: Copenhagen 1-3 Man City. Second leg needs 1-0 Man City. (bruh) That is WAY too unrealistic, 4-0 for the second leg at least. Man City wins 7-1 on aggregate.

RB Leipzig v Real Madrid

This might seem boring on paper, but my word, what a tie. Bellingham v Xavi Simons, two of the most exciting youngsters in world football. Added to the fact that Leipzig has beaten Real Madrid before, this tie would be even more entertaining than people think it would be. 4-2 to Real Madrid over two legs.

UPDATE first leg: RB Leipzig 0-1 Real Madrid. Second leg needs 3-2 Real Madrid. A tad little unrealistic, 3-1 for Madrid would be better. Real Madrid wins 4-1 on aggregate.

My predictions for the round of 16: Arsenal, Barcelona, PSG, Inter, PSV, Bayern, Man City, Real Madrid.

EDIT after the first leg: Porto, Barcelona, PSG, Inter, PSV, Lazio, Man City, Real Madrid.
