siuuuuu 100: 100 of the best moments of the 2023/24 world football season (60-51)

Welcome to part five of siuuuuu 100. Today we have some moments of brilliance and/or clutch moments in world football. We also have two comedy moments that will make you snort your morning cereal along with your milk. Stay tuned!

60: Niklas Sule clear vs Mbappe

In a game between Dortmund and Paris St. Germain in the UCL group of death, Niklas Sule did the best goal line clearance by a non-goalkeeper this season. With Kylian Mbappe through on an empty net, Sule made a slide- and kept the ball out with his foot sticking up. Mbappe was left in shock, comprehending why he didn't have scored. I wonder if the result of the Champions League final had been different if Sule had started in a three-at-the back.

59: Feyenoord 6-0 Ajax

What is up with these derbies this year? Feyenoord's 6-0 victory over Ajax just shows how far the Dutch giants have fallen. This match also announced the arrival of Gambian superstar Yankuba Minteh, who scored a brace and registered an assist. The other goalscorers were David Hancko, Quinten Timber, and two by Igor Paixao. The most shocking of all is that Feyenoord had 30 shots while Ajax only managed one. A huge takeover will be needed in Ajax for them to reach the heights they once were. But Liverpool fans, Arne Slot right here.

58: Copenhagen 4-3 Man United

Oh my days, what a game. The beauty of the Champions League, right here. Man United traveled to Copenhagen for their fourth matchday of the Champions League group stage. Rasmus Hojlund, who played for Copenhagen, scored two against his former side. However, Marcus Rashford picked up a red card for a challenge on Copenhagen right back Jelert. The home side pulled one back from a goal by former Southampton man Mohammed Elyounoussi, then they equalized from a penalty converted by Diogo Goncalves. In the second half, United were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Bruno Fernandes. Copenhagen eventually rallied back through a volley by midfielder Lukas Lerager. Then, the unthinkable happened. It was perhaps destiny that a 17 year old named Roony would score the winning goal, and his first Champions League goal, against Manchester United. Roony Bardghji, the Swedish wonderkid, volleyed the ball into the top corner to earn a victory for the Danish side, 4-3. Football, eh?

57: Aubameyang assist Ismaila Sarr

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is aging like fine wine in Marseille. This season, he racked up 17 goals and 8 assists. His best assist is this brilliant backheel pass against Le Havre after dribbling past two defenders. Start at 2:22, watch, and be amazed.

56: Wes Burns goal for Ipswich

Wes Burns scores an incredible trivela goal after a great team move. Video source: Ipswich Town

Wes Burns' goal against Coventry might be one of the best goals of the season. After a great team move that included two brilliant switch-up balls, it fell to Wes Burns, who cut inside like Arjen Robben and finished a trivela into the top corner like Ricardo Quaresma. Absolutely beautiful from Ipswich Town Football Club.

55: Moises Caicedo goal vs Bournemouth

Moises Caicedo has been rather underwhelming after his 115 million euro transfer from Brighton. However, he still has the class defensive midfielder in him. But the most memorable moment in Caicedo's season would certainly be a brilliant halfway line lobbed goal on the final day of the season. After a clearance from former Barca goalkeeper Neto, Caicedo took a long lob shot, which landed right into the goal. Worth every penny, Chelsea fans.

54: M'Baye Niang goal to save Empoli from Relegation

Remember M' Baye Niang? The former Milan wonderkid has now turned 29 and is playing for Empoli in the Serie A. His career might not have worked as many hoped so, but Niang might have scored the most important goal of his life this year. Needing a goal against Roma with the score 1-1, Niang smashed an incoming ball into the bottom right, clinching safety for Empoli from relegation. Niang might be one of the players that you are shocked to find still playing in Europe. Here are some more.

53: Kazuki Fujita own goal

https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1cutg3b/own_goal_of_the_year_contender_from_kazuki_fujita/ I normally don't post Reddit links, but this own goal by goalkeeper Kazuki Fujita was so funny. The game was 7-0 and Fujita tried to Cruyff turn the other team's striker; However, the ball somehow ended up in his own net. Attempting Cruyff turns and own goaling is exactly what I would to when my team leads 7-0. However, that attempt led to Fujita looking like a Sunday League winger trying to do Neymar skills hahahahaha.

52: Champions League group of death

One of the best groups in Champions League history. Source: Bleacher Report Football

The last ever Champions League group stage draw delivered one of the best groups ever. French giants Paris St. Germain, German giants and eventual finalists Borussia Dortmund, Italian giants AC Milan, and English dark horses Newcastle United. Four of the best teams in the world, that group promised to deliver. And it did. Newcastle beat PSG 4-1, there were some thrilling 1-1 draws, and Borussia Dortmund finished top ahead of PSG and Milan. League stage, beat that.

51: Ludovic Ajorque two penalty misses

Have you ever seen a penalty so bad the keeper can hold on to it? Have you ever seen a player miss two penalties in a single match? I think you did, with those two Bulka saves on Balogun in the last article. However, that cannot be compared with Mainz striker Ludovic Ajorque's two tame penalties against Union Berlin that were held by goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow. Union eventually won the game 4-1 through a Kevin Behrens hat trick and a Milos Pantovic goal. Talk about having a bad day.

The series will continue from June 3rd to June 12th, and each article will contain 10 moments. Stay tuned for more of the greatest (and worst) moments of the 2023/24 world football season!
